Cinderella - Ballet Manchester Theatre reviews
Mayer in top-notch form
"Vultures" and "Clarity" opened the night, followed by "Why Georgia." Started the night with "Aint No Sunshine," played "Heartbreak Warfare" with aplomb, and still sounded phenomenal. "Covered in Rain" was tremendous, even if Cinderella - Ballet admitted he bumbled through it. "Gravity" was the real apex, a top-notch version that stood out. Closed out with verses from "Empire State of Mind," after a by-the-book Who Says.
"Waiting on the World To Change" featured a seven-year-old kid named Avery dancing on stage. "Do You Know Me" was absolutely gorgeous, but far too short. An ultra sexy version of Prince's "Raspberry Beret," an amped up "Good Love Is On the Way," and "Half Of My Heart" with a "Don't Stop Believing" outro rounded out the set.
For an encore, he played "Your Body is a Wonderland" solo acoustic and "In Your Atmosphere" as an ode to longtime fans. The band returned for a meaty rendition of "Edge of Desire," showcasing their cohesion. Truly awesome stuff. No reason to complain here.
